What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva focuses on direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Between these three brands, the business offers a number of bed mattress designs, including the all-foam Loom & Leaf;& Leaf; the latex Zenhaven; the airbed, Solaire; and the hybrid Saatva. Perfect for: People with more particular firmness preferences Sleepers of any size and sleep position Those who tend to sleep hot Couples trying to find a combination of pressure relief and bounce Most online mattresses are hybrids or foams, so the Saatva Classic stands out. It is among the few innerspring bed mattress you can easily purchase online. Pocketed coils offer the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. Likewise, similar to all of the Saatva Business’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, instead of in a box. Saatva likewise offers a generous 180-day trial period and easy returns.

The Saatva’s convenience system uses thinner layers of foam than many hybrid models. These thinner layers of foam combined with the Euro-top’s fiber fill take in some motion, minimizing how much movement is felt throughout the surface of the bed. Sleepers may still experience some motion transfer when their partner changes position or gets up during the night due to the bed mattress’s 2 layers of springs. Thanks to its softer feel, the Plush Soft version of the Saatva absorbs a little more motion than the High-end Firm and Company choices.
While all of the Saatva firmness alternatives have pressure-relieving capacity, the quantity of pressure relief that an individual experiences on the mattress will vary based partially on their weight and sleep position. People who weigh under 130 pounds will likely experience the most pressure relief on the Plush Soft variation of the bed mattress, while sleepers over 230 pounds will likely get the best balance of contouring and support from the Firm version.
Keep in mind: Saatva recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex utilized in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; find out more about the differences below. We plan to check the new version soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which may prove helpful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your requirements alter over time. This is not a traditionally soft bed mattress, however it provides a flexible cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own home. These bed mattress were also assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the finest innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior personnel writer for sleep, I’ve interviewed scores of specialists in the bed mattress industry and in materials science; visited dozens of mattress factories, stores, and showrooms; and pored over the small print on specs, service warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for several weeks.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. However we do understand that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (rather than fiberglass or chemicals) and only natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva promotes such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spinal column assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and long lasting foams and coils.
